Spamming in comments seems te be a trend indeed. Even on forums they’re spamming. When running a forum even with extra control, as a security code you have to fill in, they keep spamming. Are they hiring people to spam?

Comment spam can be fought using captchas while still not requiring registration, you can find plugins for wordpress at http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Spam_Tools#Captcha
PodcastRant, DS is not a podcast network insertion system as far as I can tell.
Their insertions rae pretty crude and often at wrong speeds due to encoding incompatibilitites.
What I was hinting at is kiptronic and other ‘ad-sense’ like models.

One thing that really chaps my ass, is people who profess to be devout in the ways of christianity and jesus try to legislate by saying that whatever they do/say is the correct way. Whereas you are offended that AC used the lords name in vein, I am offended that you think it is important to correct him because you don’t agree with what he says. You want parents to all join up on myspace.com and make it boring so the kids don’t use it anymore? Clearly that comment was for the theatrics as it is clear you are not putting forward a real solution to the problem.
I am a parent of 2 and I have dealt with these issues for real.
Clearly parents need to do better jobs at parenting. But this does excuse myspace.com and sites like it. Parents need to be more responsible and so do the site operators of such sites.
Calling or writing my legislative representative is a right I have and I will not be made to fell that I am less of a person for doing so. Clearly I and others who approach our legislative representatives are probably the more active parents as well. We may not be doing it 100% correct either, but one thing is for damn sure, our solution is more intelligent then yours.

From what has been said on the Keith and the Girl show, it appears that you’ve made contact with them and have been aware of their hostility directed at you and PodShow.
Over the weekend, Keith and Chemda obtained the PodShow contract that podcasters must sign in order to be a part of PodShow and read it on Monday’s show, “247: The Podshow Contract.”
Now, before I heard them read the contract, I assumed that you guys were doing some good work. After hearing your contract, I would not sign with you guys to save my life. Why would I want to give all of my podcasting rights to you? Why would I let you own Sportshawks.com or Sportshawks Radio? Why would I give you the right to take down one of my shows just because you feel like it? This is absolutely nuts. I’d rather pay another hosting company and keep my material to myself rather then handing it all over to PodShow.
Jim: this is more likely a problem closer to your end of the connection. Many isp’s are blocking or ’shaping’ traffic that looks like p2p traffic and doing nasty stuff. No probs downloading in the uk.
Sportshawks: I thought the KATG show was hillarious! They’re dissection of the contract was truly inspirational. If you receive any contract, get a lawyer’s advice, don’t take it from KATG

Well, the fact is that I am listening regularly to some talk radios from UK (listening to Howard Stern show with chicks riding the sybian and telling their dirty secrets may become boring sometimes) and I have heard radio presenters in UK saying to phone-in listeners “hey! stop! Ofcom will come and I will lose my job!”. Also: stations have 10 second delay during phone-in in UK – to protect themselves from Ofcom. My point is that in USA there are FCC-free radio stations in XM and Sirius systems but in UK all these poor radio bastards have to comply to Ofcom! Such thing as XM or Sirius is wholly not available in UK. Besides: The Guardian is left wing, so they are commies indeed from my point of view (and from point of view of Republicans in USA etc). If one reads only The Guardian then one is not getting whole, complete, image of UK. So I don’t know whether this conference was any good (I wasn’t invited? right?) but one is for sure: TheGuardian does not represent whole UK. Roger Smalls was too big chicken shit to come to this conference? Stupid fuck. And: yes, you are right: the British podcast creators (both from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales) should come out of closet and send you some comments about British things such as Ofcom, etc! … but remember that many Brits are too reticent … so don’t blame them if they will not send anything.
Ray Lane : mate, in past I had sent to AdamC some nasty audio comments about whores from Podshow Inc but his curryness has not played them, so I gave up. And no, I am not sucking his dick. regarding comment spammers: use captcha, i.e. image that contains text sequences, that users need to repeat to enter comment – see my comic strip blog as example for example here (see text “Security code (from image above)”)! In this way this programs that post comments automatically can’t get through and only people can post comments individually. If you need help how to add such feature to your wordpress blog – let me know by email!

At this point, it doesn’t sound like Keith and Chemda will join PodShow because they have said repeatedly that they would not want to give away their rights to their material.
And I agree with them-I think PodShow provides an easy way to podcast which is okay, but I don’t want to have to sign away all of my rights to my show. And if PodShow drops podcasts, it doesn’t sound like the podcasters are owning their material, websites anymore. It sounds like it goes directly to PodShow and they keep it all. (Adam, if you could explain this, that would be cool because I’m not quite clear on this)
Adam talked about paying for Gmail-well, if I didn’t have any other means to podcast, I’d pay $30 a month just for PodShow to give me a feed, hosting space and a way to tag my shows.
But that way, just like Libsyn, it’s all seperate and people aren’t fighting over rights.

When listening to today’s version of the DSC I decided to type in the URL: http://podtomob.com not realizing the *correct* URL was http://pod2mob.com. Holy smokes! Whatever you do *dont* go to http://podtomob.com!! …it’s some sort of politically extreme site.
CSB- I don’t like the idea of their show being placed next to an ad beause it makes it seem as if they are part of PodShow, like they talked about on KATG. Now, I realize that other sites do things similar to this (Odeo just grabs every feed that they can) but they don’t claim it to be on their network…PodShow is not blatantly saying that Keith and the Girl is part of their network and now have ads as well but you have to think that it’s a conscious decision to make it look like that. I mean, Keith and the Girl is at the top of the comedy listings…still, they have never signed with PodShow.
I think that I would rather use a service like Google’s because I would tend to trust such a big corporation more because Google/Yahoo! seem more reliable… although, if I tried both services (and didn’t have to turn over my rights) I’m not sure what I would use.
And yeah, I think his download numbers are slightly wrong…just sent him an email about that actually.
As far as Scientology goes, I know very little so I’ll leave a comment regarding that as soon as I can glean more information about that religion.

Obviously you need to have their podcasts on *.podshow.com servers to inject ads, but this thing regarding keeping rights for their podcast after contract termination is not good. Adam about Trinity and the oil spots. That is a normal thing that you will have to get used to. All old Mercedes Turbo Diesels do it. The rear main seal drys out and some oill will leak past after the motor is shut down. Short of having it replaced (the rear main seal that is) the next best thing to do is drop some kitty liter or oil dry down underneith where you park to catch it.

It’s not the use of the name, it’s the effect that it has on others. I try to refrain from using, Jesus, God, Lord, etc, this is out of respect for other humans, their beliefs and sensibilities. I don’t want to offend other people. On the other hand, I don’t feel any personal reason not to use combinations of words otherwise.
The point is that I don’t need to share your beliefs in order to respect them. AT the same time, some people need to have more tolerance for my beliefs, or lack of, as well. Were the Danish cartoons trying to make a particular point? I haven’t seen them, don’t feel a need.

All I’m saying is that from personal experience with my 83 300SD Mercedes and dozens of others with TD Mercedes of 70’s-80’s vintage is that after 100K miles or so they begin to leak out of the rear main seal. It is nothing more than that.
Adam, I have seen some spam stopping features for blogs where they add
a non-machine image to the comment section. You simply have to type 8 digits into a field box. That way it is still a non-reg blog.

Akismet, which is the default spam filter for Wordpress 2.0, for me was catching only 80% of the comment spams that read along the lines of, “It is healthy, I shall come on your site more often, thank.” So I added the plug-in called “Bad Behavior” a few weeks ago and so far they’re all being caught.
