Are you sure it’s not the voltage? Waznt Me had a good post over the weekend. It’s shite, but look at the details on the hardware. Does it say 110-250, or 110-230? The former is needed for UK voltage. There do exist transformers for EU->UK and they’re down to

When was the Cottage built? This may be the answer. UK used to be 240, and came down to 220/230 to harmonise with EU. If the cottage is older than Christina, chances are it could be the home electricity.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity

Following voltage harmonisation co-ordinated with CENELEC countries, all electricity supply within the EU is now nominally 230 V ± 10% (though some countries have stricter specifications: for example, the UK specifies 230 V +10% −6%). In practice this means that countries such as the UK that previously supplied 240 V continue to do so, and those that previously supplied 220 V continue to do so. However equipment should be designed to accept any voltages within the specified range, and in practice most do so. Similarly, Australia has converted to 230 V as the nominal standard, and like the UK, 240 V is within the allowable tolerance. “240 volt” spoken as “two forty volt” remains a synonym for mains in Australian and British English.

sorry Adam, but since I talk mostly German in everyday life yet, my English pronuciation is shittysorry for that: I was meaning “cheeky BEGGARS” game. Some Brits could explain more about probably.

Regarding “wind up” in my audio commentI am not sorry but I didn’t mention any names so fuck it.

Regarding “no small Windows Mobile phones like fuckberry” – just check out next time you will be in USA (not available in EU yet): Palm Treo 700w and Motorola Q !

    Dear Adam Curry,

You seem to have misunderstood what i was saying about the castblaster lite version. I do understand there is a 10 minute trial. But what i was trying to say was if there was going to be a Lite version in which you can have unlimited time.

Adam, It’s nice to hear that your mother is getting good pain management! I work in an ICU and though I don’t know personally what you and her are going through, I do see this agony everyday at work.

Above post from June 5, 2006 | 4:35 pm is an impostor. Adam can check IP address etc and see that it is not me.

Besides: good luck with biz in UK, AdamC! I have listned to this Vobes guy – he is a bit full of himself plus uses copyrighted music material (how can he get away with it?) but generally seems OK. I still however am missing BRITISH PODCASTS about tech and about bussiness. There were some but they died out after limited number of episodes… maybe Podshow Ltd UK will at last do something good not only to finances of Podshow Inc USA but also help British podcasting.

As far as your whole going windows, the only thing I missed when I switched back from a Mac to windows was my dock. There’s an amazing piece of software called object dock made by star dock that works wonderfully. I highly recommend it if that is something you are missing in your official switch. Good luck on the switch, and thanks!

ah, let’s not forget that tomorrow is hell day: 6.06.2006 = 666 – so I am certain that satan and some other demons and evildoers will send promos tomorrow for DSC ;-)

AdamC: now that you switched to Windows XP notebook for a while, please try Pamela from http://www.pamela-systems.com/ – it enables skype audio AND VIDEO recording – it is very sleek. It is not available for Mac. Once you will go Pamela you will not want to go back to Macintosh!

Besides: feel free to abandon Mac altogether: you can get very classy and powerful notebooks for example from Sony (Duo processor, display with technology that is super bright, 5 hours battery life on standard battery etc)..

Has anyone else noticed the DSC is turning 400 tomorrow? I think that’s an impressive milestone just as much as 500 is! Well, if anyone is attending the Expo in Ontario CA this year, see ya there with my Ed’s Mixed Bag T-shirt on!!

I have a friend that is working at a copany that has supplied him with a Mac Book Pro and he has gone through 6 of them.
The reason for the over heating is that there is way to much thearmal past on the 3 chips that are on the motherboard. .

Stuart. I thought that’s what you were saying in your comment as well… but are you retarded?
Not to start flames or anything hahahaha… but did you at all think about your request?
If castblaster mike wanted to offer a free castblasting service with as many features as castblaster has…HE WOULDN’T CHARGE FOR IT?!

If all you want is to record a simple podcast, how about you go out there, grab a mic and hit the record button on any multitude of options you have out there. It is a rediculous, truly REDICULOUS request for Mike to offer his full package free. His 10 minute “shareware” is plenty a deal enough… because you have no urge to gain an income to afford his reasonably priced product, does not mean he should offer it free to you.

Also, what exactly is your definition of “lite” Again, as Adam suggested, the 10 minute trial period is “lite” enough.

You get what you pay for.

I really meant ridiculous when i typed it twice.
Aside from that… congrats on the 400th show AC.

And since you will probably comment about it.. Christina just needs to learn how to speak into the mic… or maybe it was your ‘amateurish” production :D

  22.
    June 6, 2006 | 6:51 am

Tom, it’s not at all ridiculous to request a different type of restriction to be put on the ‘lite version” of a peice of software.

“You get what you pay for” is a bad arguement, since I pay next to nothing for the full version of castblaster anyway. I think what stuart is trying to do isn’t for lack of cash but because he wants to produce his podcast 100% for free. It’s a nice concept, don’t knwo where he’s going to get the bandwidth from ;)

Adam, interesting to hear about your migration or rather possible migration to Windows.

I have a Mac and a PC on my desk at work and a PC at home, the only reason I have the Mac is that I have to be compatible with other people within the company (we are a graphic design company). The Mac crashes and freezes at least three times a day, as have the last two I have had, I don’t remember the last time my PC at work or at home cashed, its that rare. Having said that I do really like the look of the Mac OSX operating system, if only it was available for PC’s. It is possible to customise Windows XP to give a more pleasing appearance and even give it a “OSX look”, one of simplest thing you can do without installing any addition software (such as the likes of “Window Blinds” etc which tend to use up valuable system resources) is to move the taskbar from the standard bottom position to the top of the screen. Also quick launch icons can be added to the taskbar, both these things will make your PC feel a little for familiar and “Mac like” for you.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the Windows laptop over the next couple of weeks.

    Hey Adam,
How about a UMPC for you? It’s got Wifi, it’s compact and you could hook up a USB interface for your mizer. I think it’d be a perfect match!

Ian, if you have so many crashes, you have something really wrong on your mac. Most probable thing is a malfunctioning ram. My powerbook crashed 2 times in 2 years, everytime because of a faulty beta driver for my external sound interface.
My mac mini has been running continuously for 3 months, never had a reboot, never crashed.

If you don’t use Windows Mobile then you are idiot. Apple is evil and has sold things. Microsoft is properly US and is therefore more good. I love Microsoft, but I hate Microsoft too. I have Microsoft blanket on my bed.

Franco – yes, but this is not the only Mac I have used to do this, even one of our designers who uses a Mac all day didn’t seem surprised by this and told me with Mac’s its best to save your work quite often just in case.

I don’t want to start a big Mac v PC debate but I’ve yet to be convinced that all the extra money you pay for a Mac is worth it, and I’ve been using Mac’s at work for nearly ten years now. Mac’s and their operating system are nicely designed but that as far as I can see that is the only advantage they have.

The key with PC’s is to maintain them, I have four programs (AVG Anti Virus, Ad Aware Anti Spyware, Diskeeper and Nortons Win Doctor) which all together only take about 30 mins to run which I do once a week and I never have anywhere near the problems I and other users within my company have with the Mac’s.

Sorry to hear about your Mac issues. Since most of your life is now online I am curious to know if you have an online solution for your Omni Outliner.
